Omkarnathji was the disciple of Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar. He became a very famous vocalist and was the recipient of many awards.
He excelled in tans and used to emphasise on "bhava" or dramatic aspect, during performance.
He was the Principal of the Music College of Banaras Hindu University and wrote the excellent Geet Anjali (Vols.I-VII, Varanasi, 1954-1962).
